On Saturday, Aimee went to Salt Lake City on the train with her friends. As they were waiting in line at the train station to return home, Aimee spotted her grandma across the way waiting for a train going in the opposite direction.
Aimee (to her friends): Hey, there's my grandma over there.
Aimee's friend: Is this the grandma who calls herself and leaves herself messages about how great she is on the phone?
Aimee: Yes.
Another friend: Let's wave to her and get her attention.
The three friends start waving. After a minute, Aimee decides that she should wave too.
Aimee (standing behind a bunch of people, trying to make her self seen and heard): Grandma! Grandma! Over here! It's Aimee!
Grandma appears to looks straight at Aimee but doesn't acknowledge her. After several attempts where all four girls are trying to get Grandma's attention, she still doesn't see them.
Finally
Strangers at the station (standing in front of Aimee waving to Grandma and calling loudly because she obviously couldn't hear Aimee): Grandma! Over here! It's Aimee!
Grandma (finally acknowledges Aimee): Aimee! What are you doing here?
Aimee (refering to an earlier conversation): Remember? I told you. I'm here shopping with my friends.
Grandma: What?
Strangers at the station: She already told you. She's shopping with her friends.
Grandma: How long have you been waiting for the train?
Aimee: About 10 minutes.
Strangers (shouting): 10 minutes!
Grandma: Well, we've been waiting here two hours. I hope you don't have to wait that long. Say "Hi" to Grandpa.
Aimee: Hi Grandpa.
Strangers: She says "Hi Grandpa"!
Strangers to Aimee: Don't teenagers just love to see their Grandparents in unexpected places?
Aimee: Um yeah.
Later, as Aimee gets on the train
Strangers (feeling like they have a new friend since they met both grandmother and granddaughter): Hey look, it's Aimee! Hi, Aimee!
Aimee (somewhat embarrassed that strangers know her name, barely audible): Hi.
