Bronte broke up with her boyfriend last week. Today was the first time she was home since that had happened and she was talking about it with her siblings.
Bronte: I tell people he dumped me because it's easier and answers those awkward questions better than if I just say 'we broke up'.
Nate: I don't like that you say he 'dumped' you. Why don't you say you were 'let go' instead. That sounds better.
A little bit later Rod came home from meetings
Aimee: Dad, there is an elephant in the air, but Bronte says we can talk about it.
Rod: Huh?
Bronte: She means an 'elephant in the room'.
