Maddie: Dad, can you take Aimee and me to the store?
Rod: I don't feel like it. Maybe later.
Aimee: What? I need to go NOW. I HAVE to get something for my homework.
Rod: I don't want to.
Maddie: Why are you being like that?
Rod: I'm just responding with what I heard this morning when I asked you to help with chores.
Maddie: Well that's not fair. I did the chores even though I didn't want to.
Rod: Yes, but not when I asked you to.
Maddie: You know, Dad, we aren't perfect yet. We are still a work-in-progress so you should remember that and cut us some slack.
